So it doesn't sat anyhwere how long salinger was reclusive. I just added up the years roughly. What do I site? DO I site it? HEELLLPPP

    Yes, you must site it. Where did you get the number of years from? Maybe you should not give a specific number if it is not certain. If you estimate, or say "based on several opinions...blah blah" then you can give a number, jsut make sure your reader knows that it is not exact. List these sources at the end of the paragraph.
